ENTREPRENEURS, FREELANCERS AND THEIR WORKSPACES PUT TO THE TEST BY COVID19, AN ANTI-CAF\u00c9 AND HIPTOWN SURVEY<\/strong><\/p>\n

76% of respondents plan to use coworking and caf\u00e9-coworking facilities.
\nParis, May 29, 2020<\/p>\n

Anticaf\u00e9 and Hiptown, caf\u00e9-coworking and coworking spaces, launched a survey in April 2020 aimed at entrepreneurs and freelancers and their workspaces during Covid19. More than 400 people were surveyed, including over two-thirds entrepreneurs and freelancers and 30% employees or students.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Coworking in demand<\/h2><\/div>

– 76%<\/strong> of respondents plan to use workplaces such as coworking<\/a> and caf\u00e9-coworking facilities once the lockdown is over, compared with 61%<\/strong> before the lockdown.<\/p>\n

– The main motivating factor in turning to a coworking<\/a> space is the friendly working atmosphere (39% of potential users), ahead of the possibility of benefiting from an equipped space and opportunities to develop professional networks.<\/p>\n

– Once deconfinement is complete, 27%<\/strong> want to change their main place of work.<\/p>\n

– A third of respondents noted that their accommodation was unsuitable for their professional activities. This issue primarily concerns the physical space, with the IT environment generally well adapted.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Some deltas by generation<\/h2><\/div>

Having access to an equipped space remains a major issue for the under-30s (No. 1 motivation for 3 out of 10 respondents who say they would be open to using a coworking space), while opportunities to develop their professional networks are more strategic as respondents get older.<\/p>\n<\/div>

Productivity through better use of time<\/h2><\/div>

– 56%<\/strong> of respondents felt that confinement had boosted productivity by saving them time in the absence of travel, and 47%<\/strong> valued the flexibility gained in organizing their working<\/a> hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>

But a confinement that’s not always easy to live with<\/h2><\/div>

– Conversely, 46%<\/strong> find isolation difficult to cope with, and 39%<\/strong> acknowledge a drop in motivation, while almost half(49%<\/strong>) deplore the lack of synergies with colleagues, partners or service providers, and 57%<\/strong> deplore the fact that their professional network has been put on stand-by.<\/p>\n
